This summer, immediately following the Summer Olympics in Rio, as many as 150 children are expected to participate in athletic competitions such as the long jump, the 50-yard dash, and basketball shootouts. The day-long event is hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of Snohomish County – Everett Unit and sponsored by UnitedHealthcare Community Plan.
Earlier this year, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Washington joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Washington (BGCWA) as a Healthy Lifestyle Partner. Together, these organizations are engaging local youth across the state in nutrition education and the promotion of physical activity to fight the growing rate of childhood obesity. This Olympic Games competition and celebration is an opportunity for the children to recognize how far they have come in developing those important life skills. It’s one of a series of Healthy Lifestyle events UnitedHealthcare is sponsoring with Boys & Girls Clubs across Washington State this year.
