Thank you to everyone who took part in our 2012 Reach for the Stars Grand Gala and Auction benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County! The event, held at Comcast Arena in Everett on Saturday, October 20, 2012 brought together nearly 450 guests who together raised over $300,000 to help further BGCSC’s Mission – To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
Area Director Marci Volmer served as Master of Ceremonies. She introduced the Board President Diana Clay who got the evening started by thanking everyone who attended, the sponsors, and the donors. A highlight of the live auction was the Raise-The-Paddle portion, which raised nearly $100,000. The audience was entertained by auctioneer Don Jones from the Stokes group and moved by stories from University of Wyoming’s Head Football Coach, Dave Christensen and parent, Andrew Urie. They were captivated by Snohomish Clubs Kid, Jervin Villena’s rendition of The Greatest Love of All for the evening gala.
Whitfield United-Leavitt sponsored the Mystery Wine Silent Auction.
- Thanks to the many local bakeries and pastry shops and Union Bank’s organization the Dessert Dash was a hit!
The Blue Section of the Silent Auction brought in over $10,000 which will go to support the many programs provided by our Clubs.
It’s not too late to still contribute and be a part of this momentous occasion, pledge any amount right now and donate under the contribution tab here. With 86 cents of every dollar donated to BGCSC going directly to Club programs and services, you can be assured that your gift is having a significant impact on helping young people achieve academic success, to learn how to live healthy lifestyles, and to become good role models and citizens of their community.
- Some of our amazing volunteers, Melissa Cushman and Dexter Registe from the Edmonds Boys & Girls Club helping out at the coat check.
Lastly, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our committed and hardworking staff, Gala Chair Mary Wetmore, and volunteers who lent their time, expertise, relationships and resources to the event. Without everyone’s dedicated assistance – this event would not have been possible, and we are truly grateful for everything you each contributed to making this a wonderful evening and a successful event!
On behalf of the Reach for the Stars Gala Committee, and the nearly 15,000 thousand youth we serve, we hope you enjoyed the evening and learned more about the crucial and impactful work we do.
