Be a part of the Edmonds BGC Track & Field Team this Spring!!!

Practices will be 2 days a week at Edmonds Elem, Lynndale Elem, Westgate Elem, Sherwood Elem, Beverly Elem, and the Edmonds Club. For more Information about practice days and times please contact the Edmonds BGC at (425) 774-0630. All meets well be held at the Edmonds BGC on Saturday morning’s starting on 4/4/15, 4/11/15, 4/18/15. Also to kick off the Track & Field Season we will be having a Fun Walk & Pancake Breakfast on 4/4/15 this will also take place at the Edmonds BGC at 9am. Healthy Habits Curriculum

At the beginning of each school year we provide fun, active, and informative activities which allow our participants to learn new ways to live healthy lives.  For the 2014-2015 school year we are focusing on healthy eating, using the USDA Choose My Plate curriculum.  This program teaches the importance of a balanced diet focused on Fruits, Vegetables, Grains, Proteins, and Dairy.  Our members learn about the five food groups and, when complete, will have a music video to help teach others what they learned.

Sports Programming

During the school year the Healthy Habits program offers three seasons of sports; Fall, Winter, and Spring.  Each Super School site has their own team, which practices at Super School sites after school hours.  All sports are dedicated towards overall fitness and health through education and self-awareness with an emphasis on fun, safety, and team skills. The practices focus on learning the fundamentals, team-building and school spirit. These sports provide fitness activities to youth of all athletic abilities, in a non-competitive style. During each season the schools have the opportunity to play each other on Saturdays at the Edmonds Boys & Girls Club.

Sports Included:

Cross Country,Lacrosse,Track & Field, Flag Rugby.

Practice days and times will be determined by the Instructor/Mentor.

Healthy Habits for All!

Thanks to a generous grant from Verdant Health Commission we are able to provide these programs at no cost for any child in the Edmonds School District.  If your child attends our Super School Sites (College Place, Lynndale, Edmonds, Sherwood, Westgate Elementary, Beverly, or our Main Club) then you only need to fill out the Healthy Habits Intramural Sport Registration form, which you can pick up at any of our sites.

If they don’t attend those schools, no problem!  If you would like to only participate in the Healthy Habits program we can make that happen at no cost to you. Just complete a Boys & Girls Clubs New Membership Form. Otherwise, all you will need to do is provide transportation to and from the Super School site for the time Healthy Habits runs.
