Help us make the new Edmonds Boys & Girls Club a reality
Edmonds Club Update: March 2025
The application for a conditional use permit for the new club has been submitted and meetings are scheduled for March 27 and April 24 for design approval and height and setback variances which are needed to build a new 16,000 square foot Boys & Girls Club. Subject to the variance approvals, the final plans will be completed and submitted to the city for a construction permit. The tentative timeline to open the new Boys & Girls Club is late 2026.
The new Boys & Girls Club at Civic Field fulfills an important community need for a safe, affordable and larger facility for youth and families. The current facility built a century ago has housed the Club since 1968 and is the former field house of the old Edmonds High School which is now Edmonds Center for the Arts.
The new Club will the final touch to the improvements made by the city at Civic Field and creates another vibrant community gathering place similar to the Waterfront Center. The building is designed to blend into the park and will be available for community use during school hours, evenings and weekends.
Renovating the existing well-worn building is cost prohibitive and doesn’t increase the size needed to meet the current or future needs for the youth. The new building will be three times larger than the current building which means it has the capacity to serve more youth and allow the Boys & Girls Club to add programs and amenities like STEM, sports, a teen center, and most importantly, affordable childcare.
The community supported the effort to help our seniors with the Waterfront Center and supported the investment in Civic Field. It’s now time to invest in our youth with this new facility. $7.8 million has been raised towards the $9 million goal from generous donors including individuals, foundations, county, and state governments.
