A Day to Remember: Honoring Bill Tsoukalas
This morning, the County Council unanimously issued a resolution honoring Bill Tsoukalas for his decades of dedicated service and deep impact on our community. In a beautiful and unexpected twist, Executive Somers followed with an Executive Order officially proclaiming July 2nd as Bill Tsoukalas Day.
The recognition came as a complete surprise to Bill — and thankfully, he believed the little story we made up to get him there! Surrounded by his wife Judy, his son Mike, all four grandkids, and close friends Jim, Jan, Tom, and Joe Gaffney, the moment was as touching as it was well-deserved.
We’re thrilled to share that we have photos and a copy of the resolution to commemorate the day. It was a powerful reminder of how one person’s steady leadership and kind heart can shape a community for the better.
Both the resolution and proclamation celebrated Bill’s extraordinary leadership and the incredible growth of the organization during his tenure—from just 4 Clubs to 27 in 33 years. His legacy is one of impact, expansion, and unwavering commitment to the youth of our community.
Congratulations, Bill — and Happy Bill Tsoukalas Day!
