Earlier this year, thanks to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Amerigroup Foundation, the Sultan Boys & Girls Club received a grant to improve the health and well-being of Sultan children.  The Amerigroup Foundation issued the Triple Play grant to the Sultan Club to provide increased programming encouraging healthy eating and physical activities.  The Triple Play program helps us improve the mind, body and soul of our Club members.  With the start of the new school year, it’s time to stop and reflect on what that generous grant from Amerigroup meant to our Club and its members.  Through the Triple Play program, our kids became more aware of what healthy eating can do.  They had the opportunity to plant vegetables and herbs in a small garden, learn how to take care of that garden, and then harvest and eat what they grew!  Along with healthy eating, the addition of our new gym awarded them the opportunity to have a warm, dry place to get moving.  They were able to participate in physical activities such as basketball, relays races, and indoor baseball.  To encompass the whole idea of improving the mind, body and soul, we were able to start a yoga club.  All in all, the Amerigroup grant helped create an all around healthier atmosphere.
