More Than a Decade of Support
Over a Decade of Support
Partnership with a Purpose
Comcast WA and Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County (BGCSC) have a long-standing partnership that has been in place for well over a decade. Following the national partnership between Comcast and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Comcast and BGCSC began working closely together, aligning our broader partnership goals to support our communities and help close the digital divide and service gaps that exist within many of our underserved and rural areas. Over the years, this collaboration has brought an array of benefits to thousands of youth throughout Snohomish County.

Comcast had already launched a comprehensive response to address this growing community need. They serve many communities and countless numbers of other non-profits. This included opening public Wi-Fi hotspots, eliminating data caps, offering billing relief, and expanding its low-income internet program, Internet Essentials, to communities with limited or no access to services. BGCSC was perfectly aligned to support Comcast in these goals, as we had already established Clubs in many of these communities.
What began as funding and volunteer support for numerous STEM program activities quickly evolved into a broader partnership focused on closing the digital divide for thousands of area youth. One example, in 2018, when the new Mukilteo Boys & Girls Club was built at Harbor Point, Comcast immediately stepped up to provide $100,000 to fund the new Lift Zone and Technology Lab. This included 22 computer workstations, a 3D printer, STEM kits, and increased Wi-Fi capacity to meet the growing needs of the Club and community.

From 2020 to 2023, Comcast demonstrated unwavering support of BGCSC’s response to the COVID-19 crisis. During this time, our Clubs not only provided full-day services for area youth but also went a step further by offering free childcare for all children in need—not just for healthcare workers and first responders—to help reduce the financial hardship and stress families were facing. Comcast immediately upgraded Wi-Fi capacity and established Lift Zones in all our Clubs to accommodate the increased bandwidth required for full-day virtual learning while schools were closed. Comcast also served the needs of countless other nonprofits and continue to do so today.
Our Comcast partnership has continued to flourish through support for new Lift Zones, technology labs, and teen centers at facilities. More than 10 Lift Zones have been installed for Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County Clubs. A few of the many examples includes the Alderwood Boys & Girls Club (2022), the Monroe Boys & Girls Club (2023), the Snohomish Boys & Girls Club (2024), and now the new Lift Zone and Teen Center at our Granite Falls Boys & Girls Club.

In addition to this incredible support, our partnership has included a range of innovative and engaging community activities, such as our annual Tulalip Esports Tournament that teams up local law enforcement with Club youth, the Summer Back-to-School BBQ and school supply giveaway, and our annual Holiday Community Meal held each November at our Everett Boys & Girls Club. These community events alone serve more than 6,000 kids, parents, grandparents, and local residents each year, helping to provide basic needs that might otherwise go unmet.
Together, Comcast and Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County continue to expand this partnership—serving more youth and families, closing the digital divide, and adapting to meet the growing needs of our communities.
