EVERETT, NOV. 25: Every night, more than 100 children receive free meals from the Everett Boys and Girls Club (BGC). Thanks to local sponsors, the Club was able to host a “Season of Giving” Thanksgiving dinner for all club members, family and friends.

“The goal of the holiday meal was to bring our families, kids and Community Partners together for a great evening, yummy food, gratitude and fun,” Robert Cannon Boys and Girls Club of Snohomish County (BGCSC) director of club resources and development wrote in an email.

Located in North Everett the Everett BGC was the first Club established in Snohomish County in 1946. BGC is a national program that offers sports, educational programs, games and before & after-school childcare.

The Everett BGC meal program is offered free to youth to meet the needs of the community. All BGCSC locations have either a snack or meal program Cannon said.

Cannon said that food insecurity is an issue in North Everett. Though food insecurity, a lack of consistent access to food, in Snohomish County has been trending downward in recent years, 1 in every 11 people (or about 9 percent) are still food insecure locally, according to the latest data.
